Materials
For the last thirty years sheet carbons have
formed the basic fabric for most rods. Some rods may also use mixtures
of other fibres to combine with the carbon to complete the make
up. Glass fibres can be used to add flexibility and resilience,
but they also add weight and are difficult to mix successfully with
the less flexible carbon materials. Kevlar fibres can be combined
to add strength also decreasing weight and wall thickness, but they
can be very brittle.
