rods and
actions
Rod actions can most accurately be described as:
Ultra-fast
Fast
Medium fast
Parabolic
Medium
Medium-slow
Slow
The action of the blank does not necessarily
affect its over-all casting distance in a fishing situation, it
merely refers to how the blank flexes when loaded. The faster or
stiffer the blanks action, the more you have to make the
blank flex or load and the more difficult it is to achieve a successful
cast.
It's the amount of that power that the blank stores when flexed/loaded
that directly translates to its unloading when the lead is released,
but the blanks unloading process during a cast is also directly
affected by its recovery time. This is the time it takes for the
rod to stop vibrating and come to its rest position. The quicker
it comes to rest, the more of the flex/load power goes directly
into the cast with less friction or loss of accuracy.
